Meet Michelle Hardt, the premier bagpiper serving the Pittsburgh area and beyond. With her stirring performances, Michelle adds a touch of tradition and elegance to weddings, funerals, memorials, golf outings, church services, restaurants, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and other special events throughout Western Pennsylvania.
With a wealth of experience, Michelle has graced hundreds of occasions with her distinctive musical talent. Notably, she holds the title of Birdsfoot Golf Club’s regular piper, setting the tone for their esteemed golf outings.
Michelle's journey into bagpiping began under the guidance of Jon Love in 2005. Her commitment to mastering the craft led her to attend the Mastery of the Scottish Arts Winter School, where she honed her skills alongside world-renowned pipers.
However, music has been an integral part of Michelle's life since childhood. From singing and performing alongside her sister at the age of 3 to mastering instruments like the piano and saxophone throughout her formative years, Michelle's passion for music has always burned brightly. In college, she lent her voice to None of the Above, a co-ed a cappella group at Penn State University. But it was after college that she felt drawn to the bagpipes, seeing them as the perfect addition to her musical repertoire given her Scottish and Irish heritage.
As a proud member of the Lindsay Clan, Michelle proudly displays her heritage through her choice of kilts, each adorned with different variations of the Lindsay tartan. You will also spot the family crest on her hat and kilt pin. Additionally, her Irish grandmother was a significant influence and supporter of her musical journey. In honor of her beloved grandmother, Michelle wears her grandmother’s initialed pin as a cherished reminder of her enduring influence and encouragement.
With a rich musical background and a deep connection to her heritage, Michelle Hardt brings a unique blend of talent, tradition, and passion to every performance, ensuring unforgettable experiences for her audience.
Michelle is happily married with two daughters and resides in Sarver, PA, alongside her loving family. While her household may jest that the bagpipes are a bit too loud for their liking, Michelle's oldest daughter harbors dreams of piping herself someday, perhaps following in her mother's melodic footsteps.
My heart was full of so much joy the day my daughter brought this home from school. I never knew she was interested in the bagpipes until this moment.
